Board of Directors

Since 2002, the Midland Development Corporation has been governed by a five-member board.  Board members are appointed by the Midland City Council and commit to serving three-year terms.  The current Midland Development Corporation Board of Directors are:

 

Chairman
Laura Roman is a CPA and partner with Weaver LLP, specializing in tax, mergers and acquisitions, and business advisory services.Laura was raised in Midland and graduated from Midland High in 1991. She later graduated from Baylor University in 1995 with a BBA in Accounting. Laura worked in Houston for 7 years with two of Houston’s top 10 largest accounting firms and eventually moved back to Midland in 2002 and has been with Elms, Faris since.Community Activities include her key role in starting the Young Professionals of Midland, and currently serves as Vice Chair for YPM, Board of Trustees for Museum of the Southwest, Board of Directors for Junior Achievement and Boys and Girls Club of Midland, as well as having served on the Midland Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Laura currently serves as Chairman on the Board of Directors for the Midland Development Corporation.

 

 

1st Vice Chairman
Cary Love joined the Midland Development Corporation's Board of Directors on January 29, 2010. He will be serving as the board's 1st Vice Chairman going forward. In the five years that Cary has resided in Midland he has served our community in several ways.Love's prior civic and community contributions have included serving on the Midland Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Midland Vision Economic Development Task Force Member, and an active member of Second Baptist Church.

 

 

 

 

 

Secretary
Robert Rendall, Jr. serves as the Secretary for the Midland Development Corporation. After being a resident of Midland for over 49 years, Robert holds the city close to his heart and feels strongly about seeing our community grow and prosper in the years to come.Robert was born in Lake County, Illinois and after moving to Texas later graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a BBA in 1975. He then continued his education at Texas Tech University School of Law graduating with his Juris Doctorate in 1978. Robert was admitted to the Texas bar in 1978, the U.S. District Court, Western District of Texas in 1979, and the U.S. Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit in 1980. He was named Midland County's Outstanding Young Lawyer 1989 - 1990. Rendall served as the former Midland County Attorney and as a City of Midland Councilman. He is currently a shareholder of the law firm Stubbeman, McCrea, Sealy, Laughlin & Browder Corporate and Commercial Real Estate in Midland.

 

 

Treasurer
As a resident of Midland for twenty seven years, Michael Trost has been active in business and civic affairs.  He has volunteered many hours with the Midland Community Theater, Midland/Odessa Symphony and Chorale, Summer Mummers, and other public forums including a local television talk show, "Outside the Box".Along with his wife Leanna, Mr. Trost owns EnviroKids Pre-School and Child Care Center, LLC.  They have been in business for fourteen years with the recent expansion of a second site between Midland and Odessa.
