Midland is a healthcare destination within the region
It is a place where families receive preventative care, women come to give birth, cancer patients go for treatment, and patients receive comprehensive care and the treatment of their diseases. Whether in need of a transplant, heart surgery, medical image, prenatal care or physical therapy - patients can have all their medical needs met in Midland.
Bringing quality primary care to all people of Midland is one more step in Midland Health’s Healing Mission to make Midland the healthiest community in Texas. Primary care includes generalists, internal medicine, and pediatricians. It can also include medical doctors, physician’s assistants, and nurse practitioners.
They accept most commercial insurance, including Medicare, traditional Medicaid, and Medicaid HMOs that include FirstCare, Superior, Amerigroup, and Medicare Advantage.
The Lifestyle Medicine Center at Midland Health
Midland Health believes that one cannot be truly healthy without considering the mind, body, and spirit. Because of this, they created the Lifestyle Medicine Center—a resource for the community to provide physical, mental, and spiritual education so that people can experience the best life possible. The Lifestyle Medicine Center is one of the only programs in the United States to offer a variety of comprehensive lifestyle intervention programs at one location.
Two of the programs offered are the Ornish Lifestyle Medicine™ program for Reversing Heart Disease® and the Lifestyle Medicine Clinic with Dr. Padmaja Patel. Dr. Ornish’s Program has been proven to undo heart disease by dealing with the root causes through lifestyle changes, and is based on more than three decades of research. Dr. Padmaja Patel’s program is a medically-supervised, comprehensive lifestyle program—a unique clinic where lifestyle interventions will be offered as the first line of treatment while using medications only on an as-needed basis. Some of the other programs offered are Cardiac Rehab, BetterU, Nutrition Education, and Diabetes Education: Self-Management Training.
Providing holistic health resources for the community is one more example of how Midland Health is helping to make Midland the healthiest community in Texas.

Midland Community Healthcare Services predominantly serves the residents of Midland County and the adjacent rural areas. MCHS provides affordable and accessible healthcare to families with or without insurance. The number of people considered to have insurance includes those with Medicare or Medicaid and children on CHIPS. The numbers for “uninsured” would be substantially higher without this inclusion.
MCHS provides enabling services at each of their clinics, such as case management, prescription assistance, outreach, eligibility, etc. MCHS provides all services directly. MCHS continues to refine the already excellent working relationship with MMH via additional collaborations and partnerships. MCHS continues to work with area subspecialists on a case-by-case basis on behalf of their patients.
Midland Community Healthcare Services operates three different clinics. The Coleman Clinic, Women’s Services, and the Pediatric Clinic.

Industry in Midland, Texas, is booming as can be read in publication after publication. Petroleum production and all things in between are prevalent in the area, but Midland is making great efforts and success in diversifying into additional industries such as aerospace. XCOR, a company out of California, will soon be establishing their R&D Headquarters on the flight line at Midland International Airport (MAF) following the completion of a licensing process through the FFA for a Commercial Space Launch Site designation.

Anyone who calls the Lone Star State home already knows it's the best, but now there's proof. Texas won the Governor's Cup this year from Site Selection magazine. That means corporations have rated this as the place to be. While the state as a whole is doing well, Midland stole a lot of the spotlight.
Many businesses set their sights on the Tall City, and that caught the magazine's attention.
"This is a reflection of the tremendous growth we're having in the Permian Basin, and in Midland specifically," Robert Rendall, board member of the Midland Development Corporation, said.
Midland was ranked the 5th most desired place for corporations to move in the nation.
"A number of these companies have made announcements about expanding their facilities here or relocating to Midland," Rendall said.
Companies like XCOR, which announced last year it's plans to build a new commercial space research and development center headquarters near the airport.
"We're currently working on the space port application and we anticipate within the next 12 months that we will have secured that," he said.
While the oil industry is undoubtedly the bread and butter of the area's economy, new industries are emerging.
"We try to level out some of the ups and downs, we've had based on changes in prices in the energy industry," Rendall said. "We focus very heavily on aerospace and aviation."
Rendall said Midlanders need to get used to making these lists.
"I think over the next few years we will continue to get this type of recognition," he said.
If you have a business that would benefit from being located directly next to the airport, look no further than the Spaceport Business Park. There are 40 plus acres of build-to-suit sites available. Situated within the Spaceport Business Park is Hangar A, offering hanger space with runway access and ready to use office space. Also located within the park is the Midland Altitude Chamber Complex, often referred to as the MACC. This advanced human-rated commercial altitude chamber facility is the world’s largest of its kind and provides testing of flight equipment and personnel training.
The Midland International Airport (MAF) serves as a regional hub for the Permian Basin in additional to the Midland Air Park which accommodates smaller jets. MAF offers 30 flights per day with direct aces to six major hubs and if currently under evaluation by the FFA to be granted a Commercial Space Launch Site designation. When approved as a spaceport, MAF will be the very first primary commercial service airport to be give such a designation and will soon be home to XCOR Aerospace's R&D Headquarters.
