In Midland, Texas, we are proud of our rich and diverse history. The town was founded in the 1880s as a railroad hub and ranching community, before experiencing explosive growth in the 1920s when oil was discovered.
Midland is in the heart of the Permian Basin, the second-largest oil and gas shale formation in the entire world. That discovery set Midland on a successful course that has continued into the present day. Now, Midland is in the midst of another boom. The aerospace and aviation industry is expanding, corporations and entrepreneurs are moving here, and our residents have the second highest personal income in the United States.
