The Midland Development Corporation Approves Agreement with TxDOT for the Construction and Improvement of Three Roadway Projects

October 2, 2017 (Midland, Texas) – The Midland Development Corporation (MDC) approved three donation agreements with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) for highway safety improvement projects.

The MDC will contribute a total of $7 million to assist with the timeline acceleration and completion of these three projects by TxDOT:

  1. A fixed sum of $3,000,000 to be used towards the State’s costs of constructing an overpass at the intersection of South Loop 250 and County Road 1140 in Midland.
  2. A fixed sum of $2,000,000 to be used towards the State’s cost of constructing main lanes and interchanges on system at the intersection of Loop 250 and State Highway 191 in Midland.
  3. A fixed sum of $2,000,000 towards the State’s cost of constructing main lanes and interchanges on system at the intersection of South Midkiff Road and Interstate 20 in Midland.

James Beauchamp, president of Midland-Odessa Transportation Alliance (MOTRAN), reported that for every $1 the MDC puts into a project, the rate of return is $6.90, not including the MPO’s contribution to the project.

The Midland Development Corporation (MDC) promotes the City of Midland and incentivizes qualified employers who create and retain a diversified job market in the greater Midland, Texas, region. MDC promotes business expansion and job creation through an established business climate and a strong community. MDC is an effective steward of sales tax revenue to efficiently grow Midland’s economic stability and the quality of life.
