Midland’s jobless rate tied for 12th lowest in nation

The unemployment rate in Midland was tied for the 12th lowest in the nation during the month of December, according to figures released last week by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The BLS reported Midland was one of 22 metropolitan statistical areas with a jobless rate of 2.1 percent or lower. Midland was the lone Texas MSA on the list.
In November, a 2.1 percent jobless rate ranked Midland tied for 15th. In October, the same rate tied Midland for 24th. The BLS had reported Midland’s ranking was ninth in August and 16th in September.
