Hospital district: MDC funding impacts recruiting physicians

ighty percent of those physicians and specialty doctors recruited using money from the Midland Development Corp have been retained and are currently practicing in the area.
The Midland County Hospital District on Monday provided an update to the MDC about successes, challenges and a fifth-year overview of its recruiting program. This was before the MDC board approved a $50,373.13 payment authorization to the district for its recruiting program. To date, according to officials at the meeting, a total of $2.5 million has been invested in the program since 2014. That money has resulted in “$130 million” in per capita economic output of patient care, according to Midland Memorial Hospital officials.
